There are three Weingut Kiss in the same town, which means we got lost on our first visit. But this visit turned into one of the best days of my 2016, so it was worth the initial confusion.
The winery was started by Georg Kiss (pronounced "Kisch") in 1837 - a wine cellar of 20 square meters!
Today Rudolf and Verena are the sixth generation, cultivating 10 hectares, many of them reclaimed and made into vineyards by hard work, removing tons of stone out.
Weingut Kiss' Wines
In Verena's words:
"Most of the vineyards are situated at the Leithagebirge which is the most important area for cultivating outstanding wine around northern Burgenland.
In 2006 we changed to a new location with a bigger cellar and very near to our vineyards. Instead of growth we put focus on preservation and the increase of quality.
The complex, dense, diverse, powerful and unique taste of our wines should invite drinking.
GOOD WINES – GOOD TIMES!"
